Golf

Golf has been played on the famous Links since as early as the 1400’s and it is here that some of the greatest players have made their mark on history and where many still strive to find the perfect round. We are lucky enough to have some of the oldest courses in the world, with clubhouses full of memories and courses that will challenge and inspire you, just minutes from our doorstep.

Nowhere else in the world will you find a concentration of such special golf courses, as the historical setting of the home of golf. With 38 different courses to choose from in the local area you are certainly not short of options and with such classic courses as Carnoustie, Kingsbarns and The Old Course, St Andrews and Fife boast some of the finest links courses in the world. In addition to the ‘classics’ we have selected a number of other great local courses and some hidden gems for you to experience on at least one of your visits to Pittormie.

Our concierge top picks are as follows:

Balcomie Links Crail Par 69, 5896 yards

Many a golfer is mesmerised by the signature 13th hole, don’t let it catch you out with its unique design. Full concentration is required, do not fall short, a bogey is not a bad score!

Scotscraig Golf Club Par 71, 6669 yards

This is a golf course that rewards those with positional play in mind, much like its local counterparts utilising a number of clubs from the tee is important. Tight lines are there for those who are feeling brave enough but conservative and sensible play is vastly rewarded. There are a number of two-tier greens so being on the same tier as the flag is essential

Panmure Golf Club Par 70, 6551 yards

The gentle start of the first 3 holes lures you in to a false sense of security before the course shows its teeth. Accuracy from the tee is key and let the course guide be your best friend, strategically placed bunkers and small landing areas make Panmure a true links test.

Ladybank Golf Club Par 71, 6821 yards

If you have used your driver more than once in the first 5 holes whilst still keeping your scorecard clean, you are doing well. It’s Simply magnificent, enjoyable from start to finish with two fantastic loops of 9 with each hole getting you excited to play the next."
