Kingsbarns Distillery and Visitor Centre
Have an amazing day out at Kingsbarns Distillery. It is a brilliant day out for all you whisky enthusiasts. Explore the disitllery by taking a tour to learn all about the creation of a Kingsbarns whisky. In addition, there are three types of tours you can take with varying levels of in-depth whisky education and tasting.
Whisky distilled by Kingsbarns is made with Fife water and barley. With only 33 oak casks a week produced, it is a bespoke tipple. Next, the whisky matures in casks for over three years to achieve single malt status.
Lindores Abbey Distillery
Known as the spiritual home of Scottish whisky, Lindores Abbey Distillery sits in a converted farm building across from the historic Abbey. The new distillery and visitor centre have been finished to an exceptionally high standard, complete with floor to ceiling windows in the still-room offering great views across to the Abbey ruins.
With the first distilling on the premises in 523 years taking place in December 2017, the distillery is set to produce 150,000 litres of spirit a year, and you’ll be lucky enough to see how it’s all done!
The water for their whisky comes from a borehole near the distillery meaning that they can use the same supply that was used back in 1494. The barley is grown in Fife, malted and mashed in a conventional, semi-later tun supplied by the renowned distillery fabricators Fortsyths of Rothes.
Eden Mill Brewery and Distillery
In the heart of St. Andrews nestles Eden Mill Brewery and Distillery, with years of experience in brewing, the whisky distillery is Eden Mill’s most recent venture. Despite being Scotland’s youngest distillery, Eden Mill has a reputation among both the locals and visitors as the “Spirit of St. Andrews.”
Eden Mill whisky is lovingly crafted. With three single malts, each inspired by their customers, you can sample and see which is your favourite tipple. Furthermore, each single malt features a unique name such as “St. Andrews”, “Robert Burns Day” or “Hogmanay”. Notably, the malts are created using different malted barley types, with each batch created on their named date. In addition, the malts are in limited quantities, with only 396 bottles produced per batch.
Also on offer, if you fancy another tipple, why not try one of Eden Mill’s craft beers or Gins? Whatever you sample you are sure to be impressed and stocking up!
