Pittormie acts as your centre for other activities. Whether you want pheasant or partridge shooting, salmon or trout fishing, deer stalking or falconry, almost all forms of Scottish pursuits and activities are available in or around the estate.

Trout Fishing

Trout fishing is the perfect introduction to fly fishing, the River Eden located just 5 minutes from Pittormie castle is the perfect place to experience the sport for the first time. After enjoying an introduction to casting on the front lawn at Pittormie you will be transported to the riverbank by your ghillie who will act as your guide and instructor throughout.

Field Sports

Scotland is widely regarded as the finest destination in the world for shooting and deer stalking. The main shooting and stalking seasons run from September through to February. The onsite concierge at the castle will be able to assist with requests for walked up or driven shooting days working with the finest private estates to provide the very best sporting day available in the local area.  

A simulated driven shoot offers a taster of a traditional driven shooting experience, ideal for those visiting in the summer months before the official shooting season begins or for those not keen on killing live prey.  Set amongst the truly spectacular Scottish countryside simulated game shooting offers a complete and unforgettable shooting experience.

Falconry

Today, Falconry is practiced widely across Scotland, providing a rich knowledge of birds of prey and the natural hunting techniques. Spend time with our Falconry expert Steve Brazendale and his array of birds of prey including owls and a Golden Eagle . Get up close and personal to some of the fastest creatures on the planet, a unique experience not to be missed and includes a chance to fly the birds under Steve’s instruction.

Archery

As a sport, archery requires skills of precision, control, focus, repetition and determination. It is available to be practised by all, regardless of age or ability,  the perfect sport to bring a little bit of friendly competition to your family holiday, with some expert tips from our resident archer Steve, you’ll be surprised at how competitive you become to try and hit a bullseye!
